A lifelong art enthusiast, I have explored creative expression through drawing, painting, and fiber
arts. Inspired early on by lessons with my grandmother, I rekindled my passion after retiring from
a 22-year career at Stephens Memorial Hospital. Active in the Western Maine Art Group and a
proud exhibitor at local galleries, I am also dedicated to community theater, set design, and
gardening. Supported by my family, I continue to grow as an artist and volunteer, embracing each
new twist in my creative journey.
Artist Statement
I believe that my love for creating art has always been with me but sometimes has been in the
background of my life. I have stopped, started, and learned new ways to fulfill my creative heart
through my adult years. I am now able to bring my art out of the background and into full focus
with the tremendous support and love from my husband and family.
My first experience in art was taking lessons in drawing with colored pencils at the Matolcsy Art
Center with my grandmother. My grandmother began her love for art later in her life and
continued to paint many acrylic paintings, giving her so much joy in her later years. All her
amazing artwork is now hanging in her grandchildren’s homes.
In 2019, after working 22 years at Stephens Memorial Hospital, I was able to retire. My
retirement plan was to get back to drawing and to learn how to paint. I attended an adult
education oil painting class at the high school and was immediately hooked. I continue to enjoy
expanding my knowledge to this day. My art passion includes working with oil, acrylic paints, and
fiber arts, such as rug hooking and punch embroidery.
In addition to my time exploring many art projects, I also volunteer with the local community
theater, Oxford Hills Music, and Performing Arts Association (OHMPAA). It has been an honor
to be an advisory member with OHMPAA since 2015. My roles have included being a show
producer, stage manager and my true love, a set designer. I also enjoy gardening and in 2021 I
became a Master Gardner Volunteer through the Oxford County Cooperative Exchange.
In 2023 I became a member of the Western Maine Art group and an exhibiting artist in the Main
Street gallery in Norway, Maine. My work can be seen at the gallery along with 13 other artist and
also at some of the exhibits through out the year at the Matolcsy Arts Center in Norway Maine.

Life takes us through many twists, turns and experiences. I am thankful to have the time now to
explore my art interests and appreciate the many mentors I have met along the way. It is a journey
that will give me joy for many more years to come!
